Responsibilities
Provide legal advice and guidance to senior management and internal teams on corporate, commercial, employment, and regulatory matters
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to protect company interests
Manage relationships with external legal counsel when specialized expertise is required, optimizing costs and efficiency
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including employment, commercial, and corporate governance matters
Support risk management initiatives, internal policies, and corporate governance practices
Proactively identify legal risks and develop strategies to minimize exposure
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws and regulations impacting the company’s operations
Qualification
Required
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and admission to the state bar
Minimum of 3–7 years of experience in corporate law, ideally in-house or within a law firm serving corporate clients
Strong experience in contracts, corporate compliance, employment law, and risk management
Excellent negotiation, drafting, and communication skills
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and provide pragmatic legal advice aligned with business goals
High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
Preferred
Experience working with logistics, international trade, or transportation sectors is a plus
Prior in-house counsel experience in a fast-growing company
Familiarity with managing outside legal counsel and optimizing legal spend
