Responsibilities
Work cross-functionally to identify, scope, and prioritize high-impact opportunities for simulation across the organization. Own a simulation feature roadmap that balances short-term needs and meets long-term strategic objectives
Lead a team of software engineers in building simulation features to meet organizational objectives and business goals
Shape the technical direction and architecture of simulation software implementation to develop a robust, scalable, and extensible simulation framework
Provide hands-on engineering assistance and complex technical problem solving as needed
Partner with the software, robotics, and testing teams to verify that the simulator accurately represents real-world robot system behavior and performance
Serve as the simulation technical lead and expert within the surgical robot project - championing simulation adoption, identifying untapped simulation opportunities, and mentoring engineers at all skill levels on good simulation practice
Qualification
Required
Minimum Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, robotics, or related technical field
5+ years of proven experience developing simulation software
Demonstrated ability to function as a technical contributor while leading a simulation team
Expertise in developing modern C++ software on complex, distributed systems
Excellent written & verbal communication and presentation skills
Consistent track record working well in a collaborative environment, communicating effectively across teams, learning from others, as well as mentoring and coaching more junior team members
Preferred
Knowledge of robot kinematics, control, and 3D representations of spatial orientation
Knowledge of Docker, CMake, Git, Linux, Qt, and networking
Experience developing real-time simulation or robotics software in a medical or highly regulated environment
