RESETTLEMENT CASE MANAGER- AFGHAN COMMUNITY PROGRAMS

The Connecticut Institute for Refugees and Immigrants (CIRI) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting refugees and immigrants in overcoming various barriers to self-sufficiency. They are seeking a Resettlement Case Manager to provide in-person support and advocacy for Afghan humanitarian parolees and other immigrant populations, focusing on helping them achieve long-term stability and independence.

Responsibilities

Provide ongoing, intensive, in-person case management and advocacy services
Conduct self-sufficiency assessments and collaborate with clients to set realistic goals and action steps
Deliver core services, including: Employment support, Benefits and public assistance navigation, ESL enrollment and coordination, Assistance with medical appointments and follow-up care
Make appropriate referrals to community resources that support integration and independence
Provide transportation to clients as needed to ensure access to services
Support clients in understanding and navigating U.S. systems and community norms
Assist with practical needs, including apartment set-up and household organization when required
Build trusting relationships that respect cultural context, trauma histories, and individual strengths
Learn and comply with all applicable state, local, and federal program requirements
Maintain timely, accurate case notes, documentation, and reports to meet federal auditing standards
Become proficient in multiple database systems used for tracking services and outcomes
Attend weekly supervision meetings and participate in annual performance evaluations
Collaborate closely with supervisors, colleagues, and external service providers

Required

Bachelor's degree in a related field (social work, education, anthropology, psychology, international studies, women's studies, public health, or similar)
At least 2 years of client-facing experience and/or 1 year working with vulnerable or underserved populations
Familiarity with Afghan culture and resettlement experiences
Strong organizational, communication, and prioritization skills
Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with diverse teams and service providers
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience using client databases
Reliable vehicle, valid U.S. driver's license, and active auto insurance
Ability to assist with physical tasks related to housing set-up
Flexibility to accommodate occasional after-hours services

Preferred

Verbal fluency in Dari and/or Pashto strongly preferred
