Responsibilities
Review drawings, specifications, RFPs, and scope documents for data and telecom projects
Perform detailed quantity take-offs for structured cabling, fiber, pathways, and equipment
Prepare complete cost estimates for data, voice, fiber optic, wireless, and telecom systems
Develop labor units, production rates, and installation strategies
Solicit, analyze, and level vendor and subcontractor pricing
Prepare bid proposals, scope clarifications, assumptions, and exclusions
Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and operations during bid development
Identify value engineering options and cost-saving alternatives
Maintain estimating databases, pricing models, and historical cost data
Participate in post-bid reviews and project handoff meetings
Ensure estimates comply with industry standards, codes, and company procedures
Qualification
Required
3+ years of experience estimating data/telecom or low-voltage projects
Strong understanding of structured cabling and telecom systems
Ability to read and interpret low-voltage drawings and specifications
Proficiency with estimating and take-off software (Accubid, Trimble, Bluebeam, or similar)
Knowledge of labor units, material pricing, and installation methods
Familiarity with TIA/EIA, BICSI, and applicable codes and standards
Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills
Preferred
Field experience as a Data/Telecom Technician or Foreman
BICSI RCDD, Installer, or Technician certification
Experience with design-build and negotiated projects
Understanding of construction scheduling and coordination
