Responsibilities
Supports the department's leadership team in strategic development and execution of the privacy program
Manages a team of senior and entry-level privacy analysts to support investigative, auditing, and monitoring functions
Oversees and administers privacy and security monitoring applications
Reviews, promotes, and evaluates privacy issues within the corporate services division
Identifies privacy vulnerabilities and risks, assists in corrective action plans, and provides guidance to personnel
Reviews and manages system-wide policies and procedures related to privacy program activities
Develops and manages internal workflow processes and standard operating procedures for the department
Assists with system-wide privacy monitoring and auditing activities
Investigate, monitor and manage privacy related incidents or patient privacy complaints
Develops privacy and education audits and reports to support the department's program efforts
Communicates and give guidance on the Enterprise Work Plan expectations as it relates to privacy program audits and the annual risk assessment program activities to Regional Compliance Officers
Evaluates, tracks, and reports audit activities, provides feedback, and assesses institutional risk of privacy-related matters
Reviews and analyzes audit findings and data, providing clear and informative reports to regional and corporate leadership
Engage and facilitate privacy program standards in collaboration with other stakeholders
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in relevant field
Minimum five years health care privacy experience, with at least two years' experience in management
1 year experience working in a large healthcare system
Strong working knowledge of computers
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong knowledge of healthcare privacy laws and regulations to include the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act and other state and federal privacy laws
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong ability to assess, analyze, interpret, and report data, metrics, and trends
Ability to conduct and supervise audits and investigations and document findings
Ability to evaluate audit and investigation findings to determine compliance with policy and regulations
Ability to effectively handle patient concerns
Basic knowledge of Learning Management Software (LMS) systems
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OneDrive, etc.)
Basic database management and administration
Organizational and planning skills as well as the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to operate successfully in a constantly changing, fast-paced environment
Ability to work independently and maintain a high level of confidentiality
Ability to work with a variety of software programs related to compliance monitoring, incident management and tracking
Adept at collaborating with other departments including operations, clinical, financial, and administration
Familiarity with Epic EMR
Certification in Health Care Privacy or other industry related credential
Preferred
Masters or higher-level degree in related field
