Responsibilities

Develop detailed 2D and 3D drawings for sheet metal components and electrical assemblies using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks)
Interpret engineering sketches, specifications, and design requirements to produce accurate drawings
Apply ASME Y14.5 standards for dimensioning and tolerancing; ensure proper use of GD&T
Collaborate with engineers and manufacturing teams to optimize designs for manufacturability and assembly
Maintain drawing revisions and documentation control in accordance with company standards
Prepare bills of materials (BOMs) and support production with clear, complete drawing packages
Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (ANSI, IEEE, NEMA, UL)
Assist in troubleshooting design issues and updating drawings based on feedback from fabrication and assembly teams

Required

Must have an Associate degree or technical certification in Drafting, Mechanical Design, or related field
Minimum one year experience in CAD tools (Inventor, AutoCAD, SolidWorks)
No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Williamsburg, VA will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation

Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes (bending, punching, welding) and electrical assembly practices
Familiarity with GD&T and drafting standards
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams and SharePoint

Preferred

Experience with electrical enclosure design and layout
Understanding of ERP systems for BOM management
Knowledge of UL, IEEE, and NEMA standards for electrical assemblies
