Project Development Engineer - Engineer Principal

Responsibilities
Provide oversight of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process delegated to the Local Public Agencies (LPAs) for projects funded through the Federal Highway Administration
Assist LPAs in developing and processing local road, bridge, safety & enhancement projects that have been approved to use Federal Aid funding
Provide technical assistance and training on the Federal environmental review and documentation requirements
Review and approval of environmental documents and project design standards
Coordinate between Local Agency, Federal Highway Administration staff and MnDOT Office of Environmental Stewardship
Qualification
Required
Licensure as a Professional Civil Engineer with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience and Interior Design (AELSLAGID). If obtaining licensure through Comity (reciprocity), a practice pending letter from AELSLAGID must be provided to MnDOT HR prior to starting employment
Three years of experience as an Engineer Senior or equivalent in the following areas:
Experience interpreting and applying environmental requirements, federal regulations, American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials guidelines, and design criteria and standards to projects
Experience creating, reviewing, or implementing NEPA documents including project memos, environmental assessments, and environmental impact statements
Preferred
Experience with State Aid Rules and the Delegated Contract Process as it applies to local agencies awarded Federal Aid transportation funds
