ELECTRICAL ENGINEER I
The City and County of Honolulu is seeking an entry-level Electrical Engineer to support traffic control signal systems. This role involves assisting with the design, preparation, and review of construction plans, as well as project management activities related to traffic signal operations.

Responsibilities
Review simple traffic signal and traffic camera plans and specifications for compliance with City standards
Assist with investigations and reviews of traffic signal operations to improve and optimized signal timing
Monitors traffic conditions related to incidents, construction and special events to help recommend signal timing adjustments
Attend neighborhood board and community meetings
Work on weekends, holidays and outside normal working hours when necessary
Perform shift work during emergency events or during Emergency Operation Center activation
Requires unescorted access to the Joint Traffic Management Center (JTMC)
Qualification
Required
At time of application, you must be a citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment
Equivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in an engineering specialty
Basic knowledge of electrical engineering principles, system design, and engineering mathematics
Familiarity with electrical plans, specifications, and drafting practices
Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code and common engineering references
Ability to perform routine electrical design work and check basic calculations
Ability to assist with field and office studies and communicate findings clearly
Possession of an appropriate valid driver's license (automobile/Type 3), as required

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
