They are seeking an Advanced Level Vehicle Equipment Repair Technician to perform skilled mechanic work involving the service, repair, and diagnosis of various mechanical systems for gasoline and diesel powered vehicles and heavy equipment.

Responsibilities

Serve as an Advanced Level Vehicle Equipment Repair Technician (VERT)
Perform service, repair, rebuild and diagnosis of mechanical systems for gasoline and diesel powered automotive and heavy equipment

Qualification

HeatingA/C repairsElectrical diagnosticsHydraulic system repairsPowertrain diagnosticsInventory managementCDL Class A LicenseMechanics toolsForklift operationPick-up truck operation

Required

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma
Three (3) years of experience in the area of assignment, or a sufficient year-for-year combination of education and experience in the repair work to which assigned
Ability to legally operate CDL required equipment/trucks with both manual and automatic transmissions at the time of hire or within 360 days of hire date
Pre-employment drug testing required
Completion of a release form (ALCDRG-01) and a background statement (ALCDRG-06) allowing the NCDOT to check with previous employers for the past three years about controlled substances and alcohol testing

Preferred

Experience in Heating and A/C repairs including electronic and vacuum controls
Experience in performing electrical/ electronic diagnostics and repair of complex wiring on two of the following: light, medium, heavy-duty trucks and heavy equipment
Experience in performing hydraulic system diagnostics, repairs, and rebuilds on a variety of equipment
Experience in the diagnostics and repair of powertrain components
Experience in inventory management including parts, fuel, and lube commodities
Current certification by the EPA as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by 40 CFR part 82, subpart F
