SEASONAL HOURLY Aquatic Nuisance Species Control Seasonal Technician
The State of Maryland is seeking a Seasonal Technician for the Aquatic Nuisance Species Control program. The role involves supporting control efforts for invasive fish species, conducting surveys, assisting with sampling, and providing customer service related to aquatic nuisance species.
Government Administration
Responsibilities
Support on-going control efforts to remove and harvest northern snakeheads and blue catfish
Perform in-person surveys for assessing harvest of invasive fishes and report on customer experiences
Assist with stream sampling efforts and eDNA collection
Responding to customer service emails
Assist with fishing events, as needed, to support prevention and control of aquatic nuisance or invasive species
Qualification
Required
A high school diploma is required
Candidate must demonstrate independence and an ability to work as part of a team without supervision
Applicants must possess a valid driver's license
Preferred
Two years of experience performing technical work in the field of fisheries, wildlife, forestry, aquaculture, or natural resources management
Experience and interest in fishing
Knowledge of invasive fishes and/or aquatic nuisance species in Maryland
Experience trailering vessels, such as boats or trailers

Leave may be granted to a contractual employee at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
