This hybrid role involves designing, creating, and maintaining underground network drawings and specification documents, while ensuring data accuracy and compliance with company standards.

Responsibilities
Prioritize and promote safety in all tasks and work environments, leading by example
Input, process, and maintain underground network data using GIS and AutoCAD tools
Prepare high-quality design packages and specification drawings for manholes, vaults, and other underground facilities, ensuring compliance with company standards and departmental procedures
Coordinate with internal departments and external vendors to resolve design and material issues
Conduct site visits for project assessments, including pre-construction, during construction, and post-construction phases
Support construction services, project management, and maintenance teams as needed
Participate in design review meetings and provide oversight and support for engineers and drafters
Support company design criteria and standardization initiatives to ensure consistency and quality
Manage permit coordination with municipalities, including the City of Atlanta (COA), Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), and other local agencies
Submit locate requests using Georgia 811’s online EDEN system
Create MUTCD-compliant traffic control diagrams and location maps
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for all assigned projects
Qualification
Required
AutoCAD training, experience, or certification required
Proficiency in AutoCAD and basic GIS knowledge
Experience in using AutoCAD for design and drafting
Ability to translate verbal and written information into clear, accurate two-dimensional drawings
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to work well in a team environment and build effective relationships with colleagues and external partners
Strong problem-solving skills and a self-starter attitude
Ability to coordinate multiple projects and manage workload effectively
Preferred
Associate's degree or Certificate in GIS preferred
Experience in GIS applications advantageous
Experience in creating network underground design drawings a plus
Experience with 3D modeling software such as Civil 3D beneficial
Familiarity with CYME, permitting processes with COA and GDOT
