Responsibilities

Maintain a full-time on-site presence at the Project Site to guarantee commitment to building the right way and by the most cost-effective, schedule-conscious means possible
Manage a team including Assistant Superintendents, Field Engineers, and others to achieve clients’ goals and expectations
Organize and coordinate Subcontractors, keeping cost records on Work performed and materials supplied
Control costs in materials and wages; exercise control over rate of construction progress to assure completion of the Project within the Project Schedule
Inspect or observe the Work to enforce conformity to the Contract Documents; supervise trades, subcontractors, clerical staff, and other personnel employed in the construction of the Project
Mentor less‑experienced staff so they can assume Senior Superintendent responsibilities and eventually run projects independently
Provide Field Ops Managers/VPs with feedback on trends, training needs, and process improvements
Lead staff meetings and identify critical priorities to maintain schedule and project performance
Actively participate in superintendent meetings and contribute to improving their culture and effectiveness
Create and maintain the site logistics plan
Maintain a clean jobsite and ensure trade partners uphold cleanliness standards
Maintain smooth work sequencing to support schedule; identify/execute 'parking lot' work that won’t impact other activities
Keep trailer and facilities clean, organized, and always presentable
Lead daily huddles focusing on work plan confirmation, resolving constraints, and identifying hazards
Lead and document subcontractor preconstruction meetings with PM support
Ensure the overall project schedule is maintained or exceeded
Create, update, and distribute look‑aheads
Lead pull planning; monitor field production against plan and communicate deviations
Participate in development and updates of the Master Schedule; track actual start/finish dates
Coordinate needed‑onsite dates and collaborate with PM/PE on long‑lead items
Identify constraints, communicate to team, and resolve assigned items
Thoroughly document delays in daily logs to support potential owner claims
Verify delivered materials match approved submittals/specs; read/coordinate shop drawings; review manufacturer requirements
Review specs and track required testing/inspection items
Schedule required testing/inspections, including third‑party
Ensure effective JHAs
Uphold BC Focus 6
Perform audits and complete required reporting
Create accurate, detailed daily logs (manpower, issues, inspections, delays, weather, etc.)
Maintain current drawings in the trailer; remove outdated documents
Retain stamped permit sets with inspection records (not for construction use)
Assist with posting RFIs/submittals as needed, based on team size
Track as-built changes to confirm subcontractor as‑builts remain accurate
Train, develop, and hold assistant or supporting superintendents accountable for superintendent responsibilities
Build strong relationships with clients, designers, labs, and trade partners to support repeat work
Share potential project leads with the Business Development team

Required

15+ years of construction management experience
Must have run at least one job of $50 million value or greater
Must be able to inspect field construction work for compliance with plans and specifications
Strong experience in QA/QC methods, inspection, and enforcement
Proficiency in electrical, mechanical, and structural systems
In-depth understanding of construction operations and processes
Advanced knowledge of OSHA requirements and how to successfully execute an OSHA site visit
Communicate clearly with the full spectrum of project stakeholders to achieve positive results
Demonstrated leadership skills and strategies for organizing all scopes, people, material, tools, and equipment
Ability to establish and maintain positive and professional working relationships at all levels, including clients and subcontractors
Able to work and perform duties with minimal supervision
Extensive problem-solving skills
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, CAD software, and Project Management software
Strong working knowledge of project documents: specifications, plans, submittals, subcontracts, shop drawings, etc
Knowledge of local quality, safety, and health guidelines for construction sites
Must be able to walk the site multiple times per day, including uneven surfaces such as sand, gravel, or compacted dirt
Must be able to climb stairs and ladders to access all areas of the jobsite, including roofs, mezzanines, and spaces above ceilings
Frequent bending, kneeling, stooping, squatting, and standing for extended periods are required to check framing layouts, concrete forms, and detailed fieldwork
Must be capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted
Must be able to work on their feet for most of the workday without the need for extended rest periods
Must be able to visually inspect small details and work elements at close range and at a distance
Must be able to hear and understand verbal instructions and communicate clearly across noisy jobsite environments
Must be physically capable of coordinating in the field with subcontractors, vendors, and inspectors throughout the day
Work will occur in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and wind
Must be comfortable working independently without direct supervision during afternoons, early mornings, or weekends as project needs require
May be exposed to high noise levels, dust, and other airborne particles; appropriate PPE must be worn
Must be able to safely navigate active construction areas, including nearby heavy equipment, scaffolding, and temporary structures
