They are seeking an Online Accounting Tutor who is knowledgeable about U.S. tax code and university-level accounting courses, with a focus on fostering student independence and critical thinking skills through the Socratic method.

Responsibilities
Foster independence in students through tutoring
Utilize the Socratic method to enhance critical thinking skills
Conduct online tutoring sessions via Upswing's virtual classroom
Be available to tutor between Sun-Thurs, 6pm - 10pm CST / 5pm-9pm EST
Onboard within 2-5 business days after hiring
Respond to session requests promptly
Qualification
Required
Knowledgable about U.S. tax code and U.S. university level accounting courses
Subject matter expert, or advanced knowledge gained during the attainment of an undergraduate degree, graduate degree, or professional experience in accounting
Have access to reliable, high-speed Internet, a quiet, distraction-free environment to conduct tutorials, and a reliable laptop/desktop with camera and microphone functionality
Received excellent grades in undergraduate or graduate school
Enjoy teaching others and helping people through problems and a desire to help others reach their goals
Can tutor a minimum of 2-5 hours per week during the fall and spring semester
Responsive to session requests
Top-notch verbal and written communication skills
Preferred
A background in teaching methodology, instruction, or experience tutoring at the college level i.e. in a math or learning lab or in a writing center, is highly preferred
