Responsibilities
Manage Settlements Accountant team of six, along with client account reconciliations on settlement workups, client and credit card expenses; maintain client accounts and reconciliations; approve all payments for the team; help resolved stale checks
Identify and maintain internal controls and procedures
Update and maintain journal entries, expense vouchers and credit card receipts in accounting journals, ledgers, and other financial records
Respond to requests from the legal teams for status updates; investigates issues as needed
Oversee weekly funding requests for case financing; investigate issues and close cases, as needed
Maintain data integrity of all Accounting systems and client account ledgers
Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be able to communicate financial concepts and data
Excellent critical thinking, organizational and problem-solving skills
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
Ability to multi-task and to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Maintains unwavering confidentiality and integrity
Performs other duties as required
Qualification
Required
Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounts payable or law firm accounting setting, with progressively increasing levels of responsibility
Proven leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage teams, drive performance, and foster a collaborative work environment
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail and accuracy
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives, manage projects, and drive organizational change
Proficiency in relevant software applications and systems used in settlement operations, such as settlement platforms, risk management tools, and reporting systems
Highly efficient communication skills, verbal and written, to clearly express logical reasoned ideas
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or a related field
