Responsibilities
Documents patient care information and ensures timely and accurate completion of patient care records in accordance with policies and procedures
Communicates with appropriate personnel regarding abnormal finding and patient progress
Conduct pre-test screening with thorough chart review to gather relevant medical history
Identify contraindications and appropriateness of ordered testing
Collaborate with physician to identify and accommodate preferences in testing procedures and protocols
Interview patient and provide education on cardiac testing
Complete pre-test assessment of vitals (heart rate, rhythm, blood pressure and symptoms)
Start IV's and administer medication intravenously under physician direction
Respond to adverse side effects and assist the physician in medical emergencies as determined by ACLS protocol
Adhere to nuclear medicine safety measures throughout nuclear cardiac procedures
Interpret 12 lead EKGs
Recognize changes in routine wave forms, artifact as well as critical conditions such as segment elevation/depression, infarct patterns and life threatening arrhythmias
Perform standard resting electrocardiograms and apply holter and cardiac event monitoring systems
Instruct patients on monitoring and ensure follow-up with the physician
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree
1 year Physical Medicine/Rehabilitation
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) - Required within 180 days from hire
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association Required within 180 days from hire
