Human Factors Engineer

SPECTRAFOR is seeking a Human Factors Engineer to support the design, development, and evaluation of medical devices within the diabetes-care industry. This role will be responsible for contributing to Human Factors deliverables required for product definition, design, and validation prior to commercial release.

Responsibilities

Author, review, and edit Human Factors engineering documentation, including:
Formative study protocols and reports
Validation study protocols and reports
Usability Plans
Use Specifications
User Interface Specifications
Use-Related Risk Analyses
Plan, execute, and report on Human Factors formative and validation studies
Conduct qualitative data analysis and root cause analysis based on study findings
Provide actionable design recommendations and present study results to stakeholders
Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Quality, Regulatory, and Design teams
Ensure use-related risks are identified, evaluated, and mitigated
Provide Human Factors inputs related to user capabilities and product interactions
Support continuous improvement initiatives related to Human Factors processes and documentation

Required

Bachelor's degree in Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Biomedical Engineering, or related discipline
1–3 years of Human Factors or Usability Engineering experience
Strong verbal and written technical communication skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
Ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams
Willingness to travel within the U.S. up to 25%

Preferred

Master's degree preferred
Medical device industry experience preferred
Working knowledge of FDA Human Factors Guidance
Familiarity with IEC 62366 and HE75
Experience conducting formative and validation usability studies, including moderation
Experience with user-centered design methodologies
Understanding of human performance capabilities and limitations (cognitive, perceptual, motor, biomechanical, anthropometric)
