Vice President for Student Life
Saint Joseph's College of Maine is seeking a dynamic individual for the position of Vice President for Student Life. The VP of Student Life serves as the Chief Student Affairs Officer, overseeing the College’s compliance with federal regulations and ensuring a healthy environment for students while providing leadership in the evaluation of programs and services.

Responsibilities
Effectively leading and supervising departmental directors and staff
Developing and driving annual department and division goals and objectives linked to the student satisfaction, retention, and attraction
Developing strong partnerships within the Saint Joseph’s Community in support of co-curricular programs and activities that engage and advance student learning and development and focus on student success
Developing and implementing a robust student engagement and activity plan designed to attract and retain students
Supporting strategic enrollment and retention goals of the college across the divisions and across other college departments, including Admissions, Academics, Athletics, and Financial Aid
Mentoring and evaluating department directors
Developing/revising, with department directors, effective policies and procedures that ensures equitable treatment of all students and aligning with the core College values
Ensuring all Campus Life publications are accurate, well-written and legally compliant by reviewing and revising each publication i.e. the Student Handbook
Overseeing budgetary, programmatic and personnel matters
Supervising the College’s Title IX Coordinator, and administering policies, processes, and prevention methods to address gender discrimination and sexual violence
Being responsible for an effective investigation model utilizing on and off campus resources
Ensuring training of the College community on their legal responsibilities for reporting crimes and other violations of the Title IX policy
Building an inclusive active learning and living community responsive to student needs
Serving as a member of the Student Intervention Team, coordinating an Individual Assessment Protocol, and assisting students in critical moments by coordinating their care on campus
Developing and implementing policies, regulations, procedures and protocols to support a healthy and supportive College environment
Contributing to the implementation of the College’s strategic planning goals, mission, vision/values, and budget
Collaboratively participating in decision-making on college-wide matters
Advising the Leadership Team and the College President on matters affecting campus life and co-curricular experience
Maintaining knowledge of current research and best practices in the field of student development
Being an active member in relevant professional organizations
Facilitating appropriate assessment of the student development programs through data collection and analysis
Qualification
Required
Master's degree in Student Affairs or related field is required, doctorate preferred
Minimum of 10 years of experience in supervisory positions in an academic setting, proven ability to develop and supervise student development programs and prior counseling and/or judicial experience required
Must have a valid driver's license, complete a driver training program and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record
Knowledge of and ability to articulate and apply accepted student development and leadership principles and theories and to utilize appropriate administrative, leadership, training, organizational, evaluative and policy-making skills to maintain the efficient operation of the Division
Ability to relate to, motivate, lead and serve as an appropriate role model for college students
Ability to represent Saint Joseph's College and to communicate effectively in individual and group settings
Must have excellent interpersonal skills, with a penchant for working in teams
Possess a positive attitude to foster a cohesive working environment and a willingness to help others
Proven leadership and managerial skills
Ability to coach, mentor, and performance manage employees
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from a variety of constituents
Knowledge of computer programs including Google Suite Platform
Demonstrated data fluency, encompassing both the analysis and use of key data metrics in support of strategic decision making
Ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, draw valid conclusions and implement problem-solving strategies in a deadline-driven environment
Possess strong oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse group of people
Ability to support and strengthen the Catholic mission of the College
Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion
Ability to manage work related stress effectively and maintains self-control/professionalism
