Responsibilities
Managing industrial wastewater treatment systems & processes (monitoring, operation, and maintaining)
Performing maintenance and repairs on industrial wastewater treatment equipment
Conducting routine inspections and assessments of industrial wastewater treatment facilities
Deionized Water Operations
Water Treatment
Maintain records, logs, and reports to meet environmental regulations and safety/operational requirements
Respond to alarms, spills, and system malfunctions; initiate corrective actions
Ensure work complies with environmental safety and hazardous materials handling standards
Qualification
Required
Rounded training and experience in the operation and maintenance of industrial water and wastewater treatment systems, usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience
Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes
Ability to operate lab equipment and interpret test results
Familiarity with EPA/NPDES permit standards and reporting requirements
Must meet eligibility for a Public Trust background investigation for government issues credentials and IT access/applicants must be able to pass a security background check per Redstone Arsenal/MSFC requirements
Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and working in awkward positions to access work areas
The use of hand and power tools and equipment associated with the position
Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds
Wear and properly use required PPE for all assigned tasks
