The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services is one of the largest agencies in the state, focused on ensuring the health and well-being of all North Carolinians. They are seeking a Health Care Technician I to provide direct care services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, assisting with daily living activities and promoting independent functioning.

Responsibilities

Provide direct care services to individuals with intellectual / developmental disabilities

Carry out goaled programs to encourage independent functioning in all aspects of daily living

Qualification

Required

Good standing with the NC Health Care Personnel Registry

High school or General Educational Development diploma; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Ability to provide direct care services to individuals with intellectual / developmental disabilities

Ability to assist with basic care

Ability to carry out goaled programs to encourage independent functioning in all aspects of daily living

Ability to frequently lift and bend

Successful completion of training through the Staff Development department which includes NCI (North Carolina Intervention), CPR, Body Mechanics and lifting

Preferred

Demonstrated ability to communicate orally and/or in writing and/or to follow instruction

Demonstrated ability to learn techniques for carrying out program goals

Ability to work with individuals who have multiple disabilities
