Senior Accounting Technician
Castro & Company is seeking a Senior Accounting Technician to join their growing Advisory & Accounting practice. In this role, you will provide high-impact accounting operations support that contributes directly to the success of a critical Federal mission, ensuring accuracy and integrity in financial transactions.

Responsibilities
Manage Accounting Operations: Support day‑to‑day accounting functions including funds certification, obligation review, reconciliation, and analysis of financial transactions
Validate Financial Data: Ensure the accuracy and integrity of all cost inputs, distributions, and transfers
Perform Financial Reconciliations: Review and reconcile accounting records, financial reports, and operational statements to ensure compliance with regulations and guidance
Prepare and Certify Documentation: Assist with the preparation and certification of financial and operating statement data
Analyze Financial Activity: Provide insights through financial analysis, identifying discrepancies and recommending corrective actions
Apply Federal Financial Regulations: Utilize deep knowledge of DoD, Air Force, and federal financial management regulations to ensure proper handling of financial transactions
Support Mission‑Critical Operations: Deliver timely and accurate financial support that enables operational readiness and informed decision‑making
Collaborate with Leadership: Work directly with client leadership and Castro management to communicate financial findings and support ongoing requirements
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
DoD Financial Management Certification Level 1 required
Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, military pay, travel pay, civilian pay, or other related financial fields
Minimum of 5 years of experience applying DoD, Air Force, or ANG‑level financial management regulations and guidance
Strong understanding of federal financial regulations, accounting systems, and government financial management requirements
Ability to perform reconciliations, analyze financial statements, and validate cost allocations
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Tier 1 Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required)
Demonstrated experience supporting accounting functions in federal or DoD environments
Strong knowledge of financial management regulations, processes, and accounting controls
Ability to identify discrepancies, document findings, and prepare reports with clear recommendations
Proficient in reconciling accounts, reviewing obligations, and ensuring data accuracy
