Sr Electrical Systems Engineer III
Blue Origin is working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems for the benefit of Earth. The Sr Electrical Systems Engineer III will lead the architecture, design, development, integration, and testing of electrical systems for the TeraWave satellite constellation, ensuring the integrity and performance of the satellite network.

Responsibilities
Lead the architecture, design, development, integration and test of electrical systems for the TeraWave satellite constellation, including electronics, harnesses, power generation, energy storage, and power distribution systems
Develop and maintain Concept of Operations (CONOPS) documentation for the electrical systems of TeraWave satellites
Drive systems trades, requirements, and electrical system architecture to support the 5,408 optically interconnected satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO) and medium Earth orbit (MEO)
Supporting circuit design, simulation, and PCBA schematic capture for satellite electrical systems, as necessary
Develop comprehensive test plans, procedures, and acceptance criteria for the electrical power subsystems of TeraWave satellites
Author documents that define product testing requirements, operations lifecycle, maintenance requirements, and critical performance/requirements interfaces across the system
Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and operations teams to ensure seamless system integration
Drive DFM and DFA reviews with contract manufacturers to ensure manufacturability of electrical systems
Routinely collaborate with manufacturing operations, supply chain, and other teams within the company to ensure smooth execution of the development efforts
Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior electrical engineers
Support system-level design reviews and contribute to risk mitigation strategies
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field
8+ years of experience in spacecraft electrical systems design and development
Experience with system engineering principles and processes for satellite electrical systems
Demonstrated expertise in power system architecture, including solar arrays, batteries, and power distribution systems for spacecraft
Experience with circuit design and schematic entry for space applications
Proficient in the use of electrical test equipment (e.g., multi-meters, oscilloscopes, power supplies)
Experience in designing electrical systems for high radiation and/or space environments
Experience with component and board level reliability analysis, part stress analysis (PSA) and worst case analysis (WCA)
Experience with spacecraft avionics communications protocols (MIL-STD-1553, RS-422, Ethernet, etc.)
Experience with EMI / EMI Testing (MIL-STD-461G)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Self-directed and capable of balancing several tasks at one time
Preferred
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
Experience with high-speed data transmission systems and optical communications technology
Experience in development of satellite communications systems
Experience with Q/V-band RF systems and optical inter-satellite links
Experience in electrical, electronic, and electromechanical (EEE) parts selection for space applications/environments
Experience with systems engineering tools such as DOORS Next Gen
Experience in reliability, maintainability, and operability analysis and execution
Experience with power systems for constellation architectures
Knowledge of space environment effects on electrical systems and mitigation techniques
Hands-on experience prototyping, debugging, and testing electrical systems
