The primary goal of this role is to take ownership of existing functionality, maintain the code, and ensure data accessibility for the Data Teams.

Responsibilities
System Knowledge Transfer: Rapidly acquire deep functional knowledge of existing legacy applications to become the “go-to” person for how the software supports business processes
Maintenance & Development: Troubleshoot bugs, perform code maintenance, and develop enhancements to keep the application aligned with evolving business needs
Business Analysis: Work directly with business users to gather requirements for changes and translate them into technical specifications
Data Enablement: Collaborate specifically with the Data Analyst and Architecture teams to expose application data for downstream analytics (e.g., creating views, defining data dictionaries, or assisting with API integrations)
Documentation: Create comprehensive documentation of system logic, data flows, and user guides to reduce “tribal knowledge” risks
Qualification
Required
10+ years of experience as an Application Analyst
Strong experience working with client-server application environments
Ability to read, maintain, and write application code and SQL
Experience acting as a liaison between business operations and IT, translating requirements into code
Understanding of relational database design and how to query data for ad-hoc analysis
Preferred
Experience modernizing legacy monolithic applications
Background in water/wastewater utilities or similar field service industries
