Account Supervisor

Point B Communications is an independent branding & advertising agency in Chicago’s West Loop neighborhood seeking an Account Supervisor to join its growing account team. The role involves managing day-to-day client relationships, leading projects from kickoff to delivery, and ensuring that agency personnel are focused on completing projects on time and within budget.

Responsibilities

Serves as the primary day-to-day contact for assigned client accounts
Partners with account directors, strategists, creatives, and producers to move projects from kickoff through delivery
Leads client calls, status meetings, and presentations with confidence and clarity
Develops clear briefs that translate client goals into actionable direction for internal teams
Reviews work-in-progress to ensure it’s on-strategy, on-brand, and ready for client eyes
Oversees timelines, scopes, and deliverables to keep projects moving smoothly
Earn and keep each clients’ respect and confidence as a trusted advisor, bringing value to their business through a strong commitment to success, consistent performance and the ability to develop a wide range of ideas and solutions
Acquire in-depth knowledge of, and be conversant in, each clients’ business – their key issues, competitive situation and industry trends
Demonstrate confidence and authority as the day-to-day voice of the agency team
Effectively balance the dual expectations of your clients and the agency
Anticipate potential relationship or expectation issues, advising the executive team in time for the agency to act proactively
Effectively assign, delegate, coordinate and monitor the work of agency staff members assigned to your client projects
Establish rapport and trust with a range of staff members assigned to your account(s)
Provide a model for project leadership - prepared, pro-active, thorough and accurate
Employ a range of thinking and decision-making skills – “what if”, “critical” and “judicious” approaches to client issues and initiatives
Display marketing curiosity and a willingness to push your own thinking and the agency’s work in new directions
Clearly establish objectives and priorities for client initiatives
Demonstrate an ability to develop a range of alternatives for client and agency decision-making
Identify key elements of an issue, problem or data set and be able to highlight general opportunities and implications
Develop and articulate initial points-of-view relative to strategic, creative and media alternatives
Make decisions that reflect “layers” of thought – balancing enthusiasm, insight, caution, discretion
Comfortable working independently or collaboratively as part of a cross-functional team including creative, strategy, production, and client leadership
Strong written and verbal communicator who can adapt messaging for clients and internal teams
Highly organized with a keen attention to detail across multiple projects and timelines
Anticipates challenges before they arise and proposes thoughtful solutions
Understands agency workflows, from briefing through production and launch
Provides high-level budget and scope awareness, flagging changes or risks early
Mentors and supports Account Executives and Coordinators to help the team work better together

Required

Bachelor's degree (or higher) in related discipline
3–5 years of experience in account management at an advertising, marketing, or creative agency
Background in hospitality or senior living
Strong client-facing communication and presentation skills
Ability to effectively motivate and direct your client team toward successful accomplishment of its short and long-term objectives
Foresight to anticipate problems, issues and new opportunities
Ability to motivate and inspire others to generate innovative ideas, set an example and be a role model for your work style and quality
Integrity, decisiveness, and professionalism
Ability to judiciously delegate responsibility, and bring valuable perspective to your subordinates
Experience with controlling costs and expenses
Ability to contribute to the development of relevant, original and impactful ideas and executions for your clients
High standards of creative excellence
Establish a motivating and productive relationship with your creative teams
Ability to maintain a constant dialogue with your creative partners and seek to be actively involved in the creative development process
Innovative mindset and ability to demonstrate a willingness to take calculated risks
