Assistant Program Manager for Student Staff and Leadership Engagement

Responsibilities

Provide the design, implementation and coordination of the recruitment, selection, training and development of over 200 student office and game room staff for the Storrs and Regional Campuses
Works directly and collaboratively with department professional staff to ensure the coordination and delivery of a comprehensive, efficient and effective student employee program
Develop scalable student leadership and employment programs to support anticipated growth in residential communities at regional campuses
Collaborate with Campus Housing staff to ensure a cohesive, comprehensive, and effective student employment program across all locations
Ensures all university and departmental requirements are met for annual and periodic training (Public Safety, Sexual Misconduct reporting, FERPA, etc.) for student personnel
Serve as the authoritative resource to students and staff, and others on matters relating to areas of oversight policies, procedures and activities related to Residential Living and Education
Assess operational and organizational needs of the student employment and development program and coordinate program services in accordance with departmental goals and objectives. Ensure compliance with departmental and University policies and procedures
Monitors the student worker appraisal process and performance documentation processes
Facilitates departmental recognition for student worker staff through ongoing appreciation efforts
Establish and maintain standard operating procedures and training manuals for student employment positions
Serves as the primary advisor for the Residence Hall Association executive board and the National Residence Hall Honorary executive board. The advisor meets regularly with the executive boards to provide support, guidance and resources. The advisor is expected to attend the annual national and regional conferences with the student organizations
Collaborate and develop relationships with key campus partners for training sessions and day-to-day functions. Examples of these departments include but are not limited to: Student Activities Business Affairs, Student Activities, Payroll, UCPD and Student Employment
Manage student employment and student leadership budgets, including monitoring actuals, forecasting, and spending processes
Stay current with national trends in student leadership, residential life, and student employment to ensure programming and engagement opportunities remain innovative and competitive
Collect and analyze the program data and participate in evaluating program effectiveness. Identify issues and make necessary changes
Assist and/or be responsible for assigned projects, programs, or services, which may be ongoing or short-term
Participate in various committees and work groups

Required

Bachelor's degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration or related field and five years of full-time professional experience in a residential life program OR a Master's degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration or related field and three years of full-time professional experience in a residential life program
One year serving as an advanced team member demonstrated by a higher level of technical skill, independence, and leadership. Examples may include training others, serving as a lead on a complex project, or related experience
Experience advising Hall Council, RHA, NRHH, or similar student leadership organizations
Clear commitment to, demonstrated understanding of, and experience working with diverse populations
Articulated knowledge of the trends related to college students, including organizational, personnel and fiscal management

Preferred

Demonstrated experience expanding or scaling student leadership/employment programs across multiple sites or populations
Familiarity with learning outcome-based program design and assessment
Communication, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills
