Budget Analyst

Responsibilities

Assist university departments with all components of the budget process
Prepare the Annual Budget and the Legislative Appropriation Request
Input, analyze, and coordinate budget information within the university’s financial software systems
Process personnel requests and evaluate impacts on the institution’s overall budget and financial position
Monitor and manage current‑year budgets and actual expenditures
Research, assess, and resolve budget issues; provide recommendations and alternative solutions
Develop long‑range financial forecasting models to support annual budgeting and executive decision-making
Analyze financial variances and communicate findings to stakeholders
Prepare financial reports, presentations, letters, and other written communications
Provide training, guidance, and support to departments on budget-related matters
Identify problems, analyze root causes, propose solutions, and follow through to ensure resolution
Demonstrate accountability in actions and decisions
Respond constructively to feedback and coaching
Contribute to the development and tracking of performance measures
Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned

Required

Bachelor's Degree in applicable field, preferably in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or another related field
Three years of related experience
Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
Analytical and organizational skills with ability to work with large data sets
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
Clear and articulate written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present information to various audiences

Preferred

Master's Degree
Experience in Higher Education/State Agency financial/Budgetary Activities
