Senior Engineering Specialist – High Voltage & Interconnection
TPI Global Solutions is seeking a Senior Engineering Specialist – High Voltage & Interconnection to provide technical leadership for utility-scale power generation projects, including solar, wind, and battery energy storage systems. This role involves overseeing high-voltage electrical systems and transmission interconnection activities to ensure safe and compliant integration of generation assets into North American utility power grids.

Responsibilities
Lead the engineering, design, construction, and commissioning activities related to high-voltage electrical systems and grid interconnections
Support the development and execution of Generator Interconnection Agreements (GIAs) with utilities, Independent System Operators (ISOs), and Regional Transmission Organizations (RTOs)
Review, optimize, and approve designs and specifications for HV/MV substations, collection systems, transmission lines, and major electrical equipment (transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, BESS, etc.)
Conduct or review power system studies including power flow, short-circuit, arc-flash, protection coordination, and grounding analyses, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and company specifications
Serve as the primary technical interface between internal stakeholders (Business Development, Operations, Supply Chain, Legal, Safety, Environmental, Projects, and other support groups) and external consultants, EPC contractors, and equipment vendors
Support HV equipment procurement by developing technical bid packages, evaluating vendor proposals, reviewing submittals, and optimizing designs for cost, schedule, and lifecycle performance
Provide technical leadership during construction and commissioning, including field oversight, quality control, participation in factory and site acceptance testing, and integration of systems
Contribute to project reporting, milestone tracking, and issue resolution, proactively escalating risks and technical challenges to management as required
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Engineering; Electrical Engineering strongly preferred
Registered Professional Engineer (PE – U.S.) or Professional Engineer (P.Eng. – Canada)
Minimum 8 years of experience, with preference for 10–15+ years of progressively responsible technical and leadership experience
Demonstrated experience in utility-scale power system electrical design, interconnection, and integration across North American ISOs/RTOs
Experience working in both office and field environments
Strong collaboration skills with the ability to balance technical requirements, cost, schedule, and asset lifecycle considerations
Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead meetings and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders
Valid driver's license required (motor vehicle record check required prior to hire)
