Mergers & Acquisitions Strategy & Diligence Manager

Responsibilities
Identify key client business issues and deploying innovative solutions
Evaluate and validate analysis and develop recommendations for the client in the context of the overall engagement
Manage development and quality review of client deliverables
Identify opportunities to leverage analytical capabilities in client delivery
Effectively manage day-to-day relationships with team and client to ensure exceptional performance
Participate in business development activities
Manage day-to-day interactions with executive clients and sponsors
Develop and maintain contact with top decision makers of key clients
Perform role of counselor and coach to junior staff
Participate in staff recruitment and retention activities
Provide leadership and support for delivery teams and staff in local offices
Support development of eminence and 'point-of-view' publications
Qualification
Required
6+ years of M&A operational and/or commercial due diligence and M&A Service Delivery experience in the following areas: Setting engagement objectives and scope, Framing issues and breaking them down into hypotheses to be solved, Developing project work plans and coordinating activities between work streams, Designing deliverable content that reflects a high standard of analysis and reflects the engagement contract, Managing cross-functional teams to deliver M&A engagements across all of phases of the M&A lifecycle including due-diligence, pre-close, and post-merger integration, Partnering with senior executives to define how they employ M&A - in alignment with their corporate strategy - to drive profitable growth and enable them to compete effectively in their industry, Managing service excellence by identifying key client business issues, determining client needs by supplementing the standard assessment techniques and tools with innovative approaches, evaluating and validating analysis and developing recommendations for the client in the context of the overall engagement, Supporting the proposal development process; contributing to the development of proposal pricing strategies, Identifying and developing add-on sales opportunities, Improving internal processes, and promoting knowledge sharing in the team, by contributing to the community of practice, blogs, and other forms of market eminence
Experience delivering 25+ Commercial Due Diligence and/or Operational Due Diligence Engagements
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree and 6+ years consulting and/or industry experience; alternatively, an MBA with 4+ years relevant work experience is acceptable
Ability to travel up to 50%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
Limited immigration sponsorship may be available
Preferred
Experience at a top strategy consulting firm or private equity / M&A Strategy focused boutique consulting firm
Existing role as an Engagement Manager or Manager equivalent
Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills (MS PowerPoint)
Strong problem-solving skills
Ability to apply practical experience with communications, culture, and change management
Ability to perform analysis and synthesize data into useful insights
Experience in financial analysis, business process reengineering and operational performance improvement analysis
Experience with staff development and eagerness to mentor junior practitioners
Ability to work independently and manage multiple task assignments
An advanced degree (MBA, PHD, JD, MD)
