Manager, Business Services Lending Assistant

Responsibilities

Provides direct leadership, coaching, and accountability for the Lending Assistant team, including workload management, performance feedback, and professional development
Acts as the primary escalation point for complex loan support, documentation issues, servicing requests, and workflow challenges
Oversees the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of loan documentation, file maintenance, and member communications across the business lending portfolio
Ensures Lending Assistants effectively support lenders with complex servicing needs, change-in-terms, renewals, modifications, and annual loan review preparation
Partners closely with Business Services lenders, underwriting, documentation, and operations teams to manage pipeline flow and resolve issues that could impact member experience or portfolio risk
Monitors service levels, turnaround times, quality standards, and workload trends; implements improvements to enhance efficiency and consistency
Ensures adherence to all applicable policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements; proactively identifies and addresses potential compliance or risk concerns
Leads or contributes to process improvement initiatives, system enhancements, and workflow standardization efforts within Business Services
Supports internal and external audits, examinations, and reviews by ensuring documentation accuracy and regulatory readiness
Assists in the development, maintenance, and communication of departmental procedures, job aids, and training materials
Trains, mentors, and cross-trains Lending Assistants to ensure depth of knowledge, continuity of service, and succession readiness
Serves as a trusted resource and liaison across departments, promoting collaboration and a strong service culture
Serves as acting manager as needed and participates in leadership discussions, planning, and strategic initiatives impacting Business Services
Assists with other tasks and projects as assigned

Required

Must have advanced knowledge of business and commercial lending products, loan documentation, servicing, and portfolio management
Must have strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to coach, influence, and hold team members accountable
Must have demonstrated ability to manage complex workflows, competing priorities, and time-sensitive deadlines
Must have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess risk, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions
Must have a high level of attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and quality control
Must have strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with senior leaders, lenders, and cross-functional partners
Must have a solid understanding of regulatory, compliance, and risk considerations in a business lending environment
Must be proficient with loan origination systems, document preparation platforms, and workflow or tracking tools
Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related field required; equivalent advanced experience may be considered
Minimum 7–10 years of experience in business or commercial lending, loan operations, or related financial services roles required
Minimum 3 years of experience in a leadership, supervisory, or senior support role within a business lending environment required
Must have demonstrated experience supporting complex business loan structures, servicing requests, and portfolio management activities

Preferred

Credit union Business Services experience strongly preferred
Relevant professional certifications (e.g., business lending, credit, or leadership) preferred
