Engineering Technician III
Dashiell Corporation is a leading national provider of technical services to the electric utility, power generation, and energy industries. The Engineering Technician III will perform design assignments and oversee project activities, requiring knowledge of electrical substation layout and civil/structural fundamentals.

Responsibilities
Develop and track all drawings required for the construction of an electrical substation
Oversee project-specific activities of the project team
Mark up drawings for the drafting department
Perform calculations required for the completion of a substation (battery sizing, AC panel sizing, etc.) (Electrical)
Perform calculations required for the design of various civil/structural components (Civil / Structural)
Work on negotiations (bid proposals) with direction from the project engineer
Learn and use task-specific software
Learn and properly use the document management system
Learn and apply corporate standard engineering practices
Keep project schedule up to date
Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of his/her work
Bring potential project-related problems and possible solutions to the attention of the responsible party
Travel out of town for short periods of time as required by projects and assignments
Other duties as required
Qualification
Required
Bachelor of Engineering Technology and/or broad knowledge and related experience in electrical or civil/structural principles and substation design required
Word processing, spreadsheet, and e-mail software
Mathematics, including algebra and trigonometry
Broad knowledge of electrical AC/DC fundamentals (Electrical)
Broad knowledge of the major components of a substation
Broad knowledge of control and protection systems (Electrical)
Knowledge of high-voltage electric field theory (Electrical)
Broad knowledge of electrical code and standards (NEC, NESC, and applicable IEEE and ANSI) (Electrical)
Broad knowledge of civil/structural codes and standards (NESC, and applicable IEEE, ANSI, AISC and ACI) (Civil / Structural)
Broad knowledge of the function of major electrical equipment
Broad knowledge of ground grid theory and design (Electrical)
Effective oral and written communications
Knowledge of the types of drawings required to construct an electrical substation
Knowledge of drafting standards
Working in a team environment
Communicates effectively with team members
Must be able to endure prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer for a minimum of 8 hours a day
Must be able and willing to travel overnight for trainings and/or meetings as required (10%)
Working extended hours, including weekends, may be required periodically
May occasionally lift up to 25 pounds at a time
Must be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without visa sponsorship
