Project Engineer-Metallurgist
Howmet Aerospace is a leading company in the aerospace industry, and they are seeking a Project Engineer-Metallurgist to take technical ownership of hardware produced for their customers. The role involves developing and improving production processes, conducting metallurgical failure analysis, and managing new part introduction processes among other responsibilities.

Responsibilities
Primary technical contact for applicable customers
Develop, modify, improve, and troubleshoot the processes associated with the production of seamless rolled rings and other open-die forgings
Metallurgical failure analysis and disposition for applicable customers, including generation of non-dimensional concessions for customer review
Own new part introduction (NPI) process for applicable customers, including final review of qualification packages prior to customer review
Perform various Metallurgy Department projects including planning, organizing data collection, and presentation
Initiate and control cost reduction projects to achieve targets established by Supervisor
Release hardware for production utilizing processes that are designed to meet or exceed customer technical (metallurgical and quality) requirements as specified on purchase orders, blueprints, specifications or other related documents
Review of new and revised technical (material, process, quality, etc) specifications, as necessary
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Metallurgical, Materials Science, or related field, from an accredited institution
A minimum of 3 years of experience in metallurgy or engineering
Microsoft Office Suite
Minitab or similar statistical software
Preferred
Experience with processing of titanium and/or nickel-based superalloys, including melting, forging, heat treatment and/or testing
Working knowledge of Quality systems, specifications and process approvals for aeroengine primes such as GE, P&W, Safran, RR, MTU etc
Working knowledge of grain size rating methods for GE and/or Safran
Ability to coordinate multiple concurrent projects
