Postdoc in Cancer Immunology
The University of Pennsylvania is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to join an NIH R01-funded research program focused on cancer immunology. The role involves investigating bitter taste receptor signaling in oral squamous cell carcinoma and tumor-associated macrophages, with an emphasis on understanding macrophage behavior and promoting anti-tumor immunity.

Responsibilities
Lead projects examining how bitter taste receptor signaling regulates macrophage function, including efferocytosis, polarization, and interactions with oral cancer cells
Conduct studies using primary human monocyte-derived macrophages from healthy donors and patients with OSCC
Utilize patient-derived tumor slice cultures to preserve the native tumor microenvironment
Evaluate immune infiltration and tumor growth in vivo using murine models
Integrate mechanistic signaling studies with translational immune-oncology questions
Work closely with the PI, Dr. Ryan Carey, in a collaborative research environment
Develop independent research directions and publish first-author manuscripts
Pursue career development activities including grant writing, conference presentations, and interdisciplinary collaborations
Qualification
Required
PhD or MD in a relevant biological or biomedical discipline (e.g., immunology, cancer biology, cell biology, molecular biology, physiology)
Strong communication skills
Intellectual curiosity
Independence
Ability to work collaboratively
Preferred
Prior experience with cell culture
Prior experience with immune cells
Prior experience with imaging
Prior experience with signaling pathways
