Responsibilities

Answers phone; greets visitors and responds to inquiries regarding voter registration, elections, and election laws; provides information and assists citizens
Processes voter registration applications to determine eligibility for voter registration and grants or denies registration as required by the Code of Virginia
Performs research to ensure voters are registered and records and statistics are maintained in accordance with the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA), Help America Vote Act (HAVA), Virginia Election Laws, Virginia Public Records Act, Freedom of Information Act, Privacy Act, federal laws, and The Department of Elections policies and procedures
Performs routine clerical duties such as data entry, filing, copying, scanning, etc
Reviews, maintains and updates voter registration records, removes records of all convicted felons, deceased persons, those who no longer live in the county, etc.; updates records for name address changes, transfers, etc., as necessary; submits data to statewide computer system to maintain master files; notifies voters who are ineligible to vote; implements redistricting, as required
Prepares ballot sets; accepts and reviews absentee ballot applications in person; certifies registration of applicants and assists in absentee and early voting
Assists the General Registrar and Director of Elections and Electoral Board in training Officers of Elections, and prepares election materials for polling places
Performs other duties as assigned
