Responsibilities
Conduct root cause analysis on failed metal components, including fracture surfaces, corrosion damage, and microstructural issues
Utilize advanced analytical techniques such as SEM, EDS, optical microscopy, and hardness testing
Perform destructive and non-destructive testing to validate material performance and replicate failure modes
Analyze fractography and test data to determine mechanisms such as fatigue, creep, or stress corrosion cracking
Prepare detailed technical reports and present findings to engineering, quality, and leadership teams
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, manufacturing, and quality to implement corrective actions
Qualification
Required
Master's or PhD in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
Strong understanding of phase transformations, alloy behavior, fracture mechanics, corrosion, and high-temperature material properties
Hands-on experience with SEM, EDS, microscopy, tensile testing, and hardness testing
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
Excellent technical documentation and communication skills
Preferred
Experience working in manufacturing or heavy industry environments
Background in advanced failure analysis and materials testing methodologies
Familiarity with industry standards and testing procedures
