Research and Development Engineering Manager
Tricardia is working with a well-funded, innovative medical device company to hire an R&D Engineering Manager to support the development of a next-generation transcatheter mitral valve replacement (TMVR) therapy. This role provides a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of engineering, clinical operations, and physician engagement to advance a high-impact structural heart technology.
Responsibilities
Analyze clinical and procedural data, as well as device performance metrics, to identify opportunities for improvement
Lead cross-functional case review sessions and share procedural learnings with R&D, clinical, and regulatory teams
Translate physician and clinical feedback into actionable product requirements and engineering specifications
Support physician training and observe procedures to document device behavior and user interaction
Conduct pre-clinical, bench, and simulated-use testing to assess device performance
Monitor competitive technologies and relevant clinical literature in structural heart interventions
Contribute to risk assessments, technical documentation, and regulatory submissions
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Biomedical, Mechanical, or related Engineering field; Master's or Ph.D. preferred
Minimum of 5 years of experience in R&D, clinical development, or design engineering for cardiovascular or structural heart devices
Proficiency in SolidWorks, ProE/Creo, and anatomical modeling tools such as Materialise or Mimics
Working knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, hemodynamics, and transcatheter procedures
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Willingness to travel up to 10% for pre-clinical or clinical case support
