Manufacturing Engineer (Electro-Mechanical)

Trim-Lok, Inc. is seeking a senior-level Manufacturing Engineer (Electro-Mechanical) who thrives on the factory floor and knows how to turn complex processes into efficient, scalable production. Responsibilities

Responsible for Manufacturing Engineering projects on the floor associated to R&D line trials
Mechanical Control Devices/Skills: good working knowledge of pushbuttons, limit switches, level switches, pneumatics, hydraulics, aluminum framework for machine builds, etc…
Electrical Device Control/Skills: good working knowledge of PLC’s, solenoids, sensors, motors, and vision systems, etc…
Automation/Semi Automation: experienced with designing and fabricating automation and semi-automation equipment for use in a manufacturing environment keeping operator safety top priority
Machine Qualification: understand / conduct machine qualification with proper testing and formal documentation for production release
Providing DFMA (design for manufacturing assembly) guidance and development of cost-effective, high-volume manufacturing, assembly and packaging methods
Production line layout, optimization and/or transition
Responsible for work-cell and fixture design and improvement as required
Conceive and implement cost reduction ideas and quality improvements
Work to determine root cause analysis of process problems through a coordinated effort with assigned operators, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance and Machine Shop personnel
Develop new manufacturing methods (Lean Manufacturing, innovative tool design, etc.) and procedures to optimize manufacturing efficiency, maximize labor utilization and reduce operating costs
Manufacturing production support - assist operators with process equipment setup on difficult parts
Work with the Manufacturing/Quality personnel in a support function to minimize Manufactured Material Discrepancy Reports (MMDR) customer complaints and or returned goods (RMA’s) for quality reasons
Maintain good communication with the Sales Group and Production Control so that customer requirements are met and to ensure the most efficient use of production resources (fulfill product sample requests timely, evaluate new product / process opportunities, etc.)
Recommend new engineering and production equipment purchases to maintain manufacturing and engineering standards for safety, quality, and efficiency
Assist Manufacturing Management to maintain an accident prevention attitude among all employees. Post safety posters, signs, etc., to warn of potential and actual safety hazards and to prevent access to hazardous conditions
Work with the facility maintenance/machine shop departments to ensure production equipment is maintained in good working order (follow outlined manufacturing PM requirements, i.e., filter changes etc.)
Assist Manufacturing Management to ensure all functions / operations within manufacturing have a current written Job Safety Analysis
Provide engineering support for all environmental regulatory compliance requirements
Investigation and analysis of quality problems to determine cause and implement corrective actions

Required

BS in Mechanical Engineering, and/or Electrical Engineering degree with emphasis towards Manufacturing
Minimum 7 years of actual “hands-on” job experience in a professional work/manufacturing environment. No exceptions
Experience with manufacturing equipment design, both mechanical and electrical
Experience and thorough understanding in working with PLC's and controls such as Sensors, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, and Vision systems and the ability to program (semi-automation, full automation)
Experience in capital equipment selection and writing justifications
Ability to read and interpret documents (safety rules, operating / maintenance instructions and procedure manuals)
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and tolerances
Attention to detail a must!
Experience with Lean manufacturing practices
Experience with DFMA, SPC, FMEA, and DOE
Proficiency in 3D solid modeling/2D drafting CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
Microsoft Office Proficiency – Excel, Powerpoint, Word, Access and creation of spreadsheets and charts
Skilled in Technical Report writing
Skilled Problem solver that can think fast on their feet
Ability to work autonomously and under pressure in a fast-paced team environment
Ability to multi-task
Possess a go-getter, take charge type of attitude. Shows initiative
Have excellent organization skills!
Strong work ethic with experience in communicating (verbal & written) across various functional departments (Quality, Sales, Mfg, Engineering, etc…)
Must possess excellent people skills! Interact well with others

Preferred

Bilingual (Spanish / English) a plus
Knowledge of Profile Extrusion, Co-extrusion process a plus
Knowledge of rubber or plastic materials a plus
Knowledge of KPP's (Key Performance Parameters), KPI's (Key Performance Indicators) and KPC's (Key Product Characteristics)
Use of Microsoft Project to manage overall project timelines
Demonstrated history of designing and implementing process improvement methodologies
An ability to independently define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
Ability to present information within a group of peers / managers, vendors, customers, etc
Ability to travel as required. Light travel – 5 to 10%
Basic knowledge of environmental regulations on air pollution, water pollution and hazardous waste
Knowledge of ASTM test methods a plus
Track record of progressive career growth
