Business Development Engineer
Chint Power Systems Americas is a leading solar inverter manufacturer serving the commercial and industrial (C&I) and utility scale solar markets. They are seeking a dynamic Business Development Engineer to identify and develop new business opportunities, build relationships with key partners, and provide technical support to drive adoption of CPS inverters. Responsibilities
Research and identify prospective customers including EPCs, developers and owners within the C&I and small utility PV markets
Engage with leads through cold calling, email outreach, LinkedIn networking, and in-person meetings at industry events, trade shows, and customer offices
Qualify potential leads based on their business model, technical needs, project pipeline, and timeline for procurement
Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of opportunities aligned with CPS product capabilities and market strategy
Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of CPS inverter products, accessories (e.g., combiners, communication gateways, RSD devices), and system-level applications
Support potential clients by discussing system design considerations, interconnection requirements, and inverter configurations
Provide pre-sales technical support in collaboration with Applications Engineering and Sales teams to ensure proposed solutions meet customer and code requirements (UL, IEEE, NEC)
Assist in reviewing one-line diagrams, equipment lists, and technical documentation to align CPS solutions with customer project needs
Coordinate with internal teams (Sales, Applications Engineering, Product Management, Marketing) to ensure customer needs are addressed efficiently
Support senior sales and channel partners during project bid reviews, RFP responses, and technical presentations
Stay current on solar PV market trends, policy updates, incentive programs, and competitor product offerings
Contribute to regional market development strategies through targeted outreach and promotional initiatives
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Business or a related technical field
1–3 years of experience in business development, technical sales, or customer-facing engineering; experience in the solar PV or renewable energy industry preferred
Strong technical aptitude and willingness to learn inverter-based power systems, PV balance of system components, and grid interconnection principles
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
Proven ability to build rapport with clients, manage multiple priorities, and work independently in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency with CRM software (Salesforce), Microsoft Office Suite, and general digital collaboration tools
Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership, accountability, and drive to exceed targets
Remote position with travel (50-75%) for client meetings, trade shows, and training events
