COO / Assistant Executive Director

Springfield Boys & Girls Club is seeking a passionate, organized, and people-centered Assistant Executive Director to help lead their Club and ensure impactful programs. In this senior leadership role, you will oversee daily operations, lead programming, and support staff excellence.

Non-profit Organization Management

Responsibilities

Oversee all Club programs, including drop-in, licensed care, and teen programs
Supervise the Program Director and program staff, ensuring consistent, high-quality programming
Evaluate program outcomes and adjust offerings to meet member needs
Set the Club’s annual program and staffing schedule
Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate all program staff (full-time and part-time)
Lead staff meetings and foster a positive, accountable team culture
Ensure compliance with BGCA policies, EEC regulations, and safety standards
Step into leadership when the Executive Director is unavailable
Conduct EEC and BGCA background checks
Oversee payroll collection, time-off approvals, and staff scheduling
Ensure accurate incident and accident reporting
Maintain accurate program data in the Vision database
Assist with grant compliance and reporting
Oversee facility usage, rentals, and daily walkthroughs of indoor and outdoor spaces
Work closely with the Facilities Manager to keep operations running smoothly
Represent the Club at community events
Give Club tours and attend special events, field trips, and fundraisers
Serve as the Club’s Alumni Coordinator, planning at least three alumni events annually
Recruit, train, and manage volunteers and interns

Required

At least 5 years of experience working with youth
3+ years of supervisory experience
Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
Experience with program planning and staff management
Knowledge of (or willingness to learn) EEC regulations and BGCA requirements
Commitment to working with a diverse population and creating inclusive spaces
Ability to multitask, problem-solve, and lead with confidence and compassion
Lift equipment and move throughout the building regularly
Participate in games and activities with members
Maintain high energy and focus throughout the day
Drive the Club vehicle as needed

Preferred

Associate's or Bachelor's degree (education, youth services, or related field preferred)
