Plans Analyst
City of Albuquerque is seeking a Plans Analyst to analyze and review construction building plans for compliance with building codes. The role involves working with the public, architects, and contractors to ensure adherence to regulations and performing technical tasks related to plan review.
Government Administration
Responsibilities
Analyze residential, commercial or industrial building plans to ensure compliance with all applicable adopted building, electrical, and/or mechanical/plumbing codes and ordinances
Coordinate plan-checking activities with other departments; route plans, comments and specifications to appropriate departments, divisions or outside consultants
Review foundation plans for modular buildings and site-built construction to ensure compliance with applicable codes ordinances and regulations
Maintain accurate and detailed records and prepare analytical or statistical reports when required
Maintain awareness of new building codes and regulations
Respond to inquiries from the public, architects, engineers, developers and contractors regarding applicable codes and regulations, and construction plans
Perform preliminary code analysis of proposed building projects for owners, architects, engineers and contractors
Process building code review analysis comments for building permit issuance approval
Assist Permitting and FasTrax staff to expedite the plan review process
Attend and participate in professional group meetings; stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of building inspection
Perform related duties and responsibilities as required
Qualification
Required
High School diploma or GED
Eight (8) years of experience in construction plan review or commercial or residential installation of building, electrical, mechanical, or plumbing systems
