Accountant
The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, is the primary federal public health agency safeguarding the nation's commercial supply of meat, poultry, and egg products. They are seeking a full-time Accountant responsible for performing financial reporting, bookkeeping, account reconciliation, and budgetary analysis, while ensuring compliance with financial regulations.

Ensuring compliance with applicable financial regulations
Collaborate with internal departments to provide insights and recommendations to support financial decision-making processes
Qualification
Required
Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and account reconciliation
Experience with bookkeeping, journal entries, and payroll management
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and regulatory compliance
Proficiency in using accounting software and advanced Excel skills
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Effective communication and collaboration abilities
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Preferred
CPA certification preferred but not required
Experience in governmental or public sector accounting is a plus
