Human Resources Manager

Greater Washington Urban League is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Human Resources Manager to join their team. The Human Resources Manager will aid and facilitate the human resource processes within the organization, overseeing talent acquisition, compensation, onboarding, benefits, and employee relations.

Civic & Social Organization

Responsibilities

Administers health and welfare plans, including enrollments, changes, and terminations
Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions
Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions
Completes Forms I-9, verifies I-9 documentation, maintains I-9 files and 403B while maintaining confidentiality
Collaborate with managers to understand the goals and retention plans for the organization
Submits online investigation requests and assists with new-employee background checks
Reconciles benefit statements
Conducts benefits audits, or other HR-related programs and recommends corrective action
Assists with processing of terminations
Assists with the preparation of the performance review process
Assists Managers with recruitment and interview process
Tracks the status of candidates in HRIS and responds with follow-up letters at the end of the recruiting process
Schedule meetings and interviews as requested by leadership
Makes photocopies; mails, scans, and emails documents; and performs other administrative functions
Files documents into appropriate employee files and in the HRIS system
Assists or prepares correspondence as requested
Prepares new-employee files and processes HR mail
Responsible for communicating with candidates by extending contingent job offers, sending offer letters
Manages the onboarding process of new hires

Required

Bachelor's degree in human resources, management, or related fields
Five to seven 7 years of experience as an HR Generalist in a nonprofit environment
Current SHRM-SCP or CP or related certification
Demonstrates understanding of HR full employee lifecycle, including talent acquisition, culture, employee relations, compensation, performance management, employee development, benefits administration, including COBRA, onboarding, tuition reimbursement, STD/LTD, DCFMLA, and PML
Proficient with Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), OnePoint preferred, and Microsoft Office
General knowledge of the District of Columbia and Maryland federal, state, and local employment laws
Effective verbal, oral, and written communication skills
Experience working with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
Non-Profit Experience
Successfully pass a background investigation
