Electrical and Electronics Engineer (Ph.D.)

Responsibilities
Performing electrical engineering consulting related to ongoing Exponent work to include: completing projects associated with power systems, renewable energy, residential, commercial and industrial equipment; electrical work practices; control systems; battery systems; consumer products; and electrical installations
Generating and performing testing protocols in both laboratory and field settings
Conducting site inspections to document electrical systems and components to determine their potential involvement in system failures, including fire causation
Seeking answers to questions such as why a system malfunctioned, what measures might have prevented problems, and how to enhance the safety of products or equipment
Communicating technical information to diverse audiences, including preparation of technical reports and presentations
Obtaining a professional license in Electrical Engineering
Qualification
Required
Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline
Hands-on experience with electronics hardware and software development
Hands-on experience assessing and troubleshooting electrical systems and components
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Ability to work independently or in multidisciplinary teams and the ability to support multiple projects simultaneously
Experience designing, constructing, and performing tests in a laboratory setting
Ability to gather information and convey technical conclusions to individuals in engineering, business, and related industry
Presently legally authorized to work in the United States; no immigration sponsorship or processing required
Preferred
Familiarity with electrical safety standards such as the National Electric Code (NFPA 70)
