Responsibilities
Apply knowledge of programming techniques and computer systems to plan, develop, test and document computer programs
Conduct trial runs of programs and testing of software applications to be sure they will produce the desired information and that the instructions are correct
Evaluate user requests for new or modified programs, and compatibility with current systems and computer capabilities
Consolidate class and sequence diagrams and prepare high- and low-level design documents
Use structured analysis and design techniques to formulate plans that outline the steps required to develop programs
Write, analyze, review, and rewrite programs, using workflow charts and diagrams, and applying knowledge of computer capabilities, subject matter, and symbolic logic
Enter program codes into computer systems and testing programs
Perform revision, repair, or expansion of existing programs to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements
Recreate the steps taken by users to locate the source of and correct problems
Compile and write documentation of program development and subsequent revisions, inserting comments in the coded instructions so others can understand the program
Correct errors by making appropriate changes and rechecking the program to ensure that the desired results are produced
Consult with managerial, engineering, and technical personnel to clarify program intent, identify problems, and suggest changes

Minimum Experience (In Years): 5
