Responsibilities
Prepares specimens for analysis and reference testing
Operates all histology equipment
Maintains records for all aspects of the department
Assists pathologists as needed
Keeps quality control logs and schedules repairs and cleaning as required
The Histology Technician reports to the Histology Tech Team Lead
This position may have additional or varied physical demand and/or respiratory fit test requirements

High exposure to hazardous risks, including potential for exposure to infectious and communicate diseases blood, tissue and body fluids, electrical equipment, chemicals
Potential for bodily injury related to lifting
Continuous exposure to disagreeable elements such as blood, such as blood, fumes, disagreeable odors
Must wear protective clothing. Requires definite skilled and accurate manual operations in order to coordinate performance to accomplish delicate manipulations, to operate a variety of instruments, must be able to operate a computer keyboard and write
Must be able to see and distinguish colors
Repetitive motions required (rotating of wrist approximately 1500 times a day, flex extend elbow 200 times a day) for slide preparation
Qualification
Required
Must be able to communicate effectively in English
Preferred
Associate degree in Histotechnology or 2 years histology experience preferred
