Responsibilities

Manage, mentor, and train a global payroll team of approximately 15 employees
Oversee daily workflows, conduct constructive performance evaluations, and lead hiring initiatives for the department
Identify and implement technological updates to streamline payroll software, systems, and procedures
Maintain and review payroll processing systems to ensure accurate transactions, including salaries, benefits, garnishments, and tax deductions
Ensure the timely execution of payroll updates for 2,000+ employees, covering new hires, terminations, and rate changes
Maintain strict adherence to federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, as well as prevailing wage requirements
Facilitate and respond to various audits, including Workers' Compensation and union-specific inquiries (32BJ, Local 272, etc.)
Manage complex NYC union payroll requirements; familiarity with Local 32BJ is highly preferred
Maintain knowledge of HR requirements and benefit tracking for non-union buildings
Oversee the integrity of the salary and bonus database

Proven experience managing payroll within a union environment (NYC unions such as 32BJ or 272 are a significant plus)
Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience managing payroll teams
Strong problem-solving abilities with a high degree of attention to detail
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, HR, or a related field
5-10 years of total related payroll experience

Preferred

Familiarity with Local 32BJ is highly preferred
