Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain backend APIs and services to support secure data ingestion, processing, and compliance reporting (e.g., automated audits, records classification, and risk assessments)
Architect and optimize database schemas for compliance-related data, ensuring data minimization, encryption, and role-based access controls
Deploy, manage, and scale cloud infrastructure on AWS, leveraging serverless architectures, storage solutions, and distributed computing to support multi-tenant reporting environments
Integrate AI-driven features through APIs to guide users through privacy workflows while maintaining complete audit trails and data integrity
Collaborate with frontend developers, data scientists, and compliance subject-matter experts to translate regulatory requirements into reliable backend logic and microservices
Implement and enforce system security best practices, including authentication, authorization, encryption, and vulnerability scanning, with a strong emphasis on protecting personally identifiable information (PII)
Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and scale backend services to meet growing platform demand
Participate in code reviews, technical documentation, and agile development processes
Qualification
Required
3+ years of experience with server-side development using languages such as Python (preferred), Node.js, Java, or Go
Strong experience building RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs within microservices architectures (e.g., Flask, Express, Spring Boot)
Hands-on experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL
Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or DynamoDB
Proficiency in database design, optimization, indexing, and ORM frameworks (e.g., SQLAlchemy, Sequelize)
Solid experience with AWS services including EC2, Lambda, S3, VPC, IAM, and CloudWatch
Familiarity with cloud security services such as encryption key management and threat detection tools
Experience using infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
Familiarity with data privacy frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, or similar regulatory standards)
Experience implementing secure coding practices aligned with OWASP guidelines
Prior experience handling sensitive or regulated data is highly desirable
Version control using Git
Containerization using Docker and Kubernetes
CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments
Basic understanding of AI/ML integrations through APIs or managed services
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional environment
Clear communication skills for documenting technical decisions and explaining system behavior to non-technical stakeholders
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
Preferred
Experience with AI-assisted systems, data governance platforms, or compliance automation tools
Relevant technical or security certifications (e.g., cloud or security certifications)
Experience working on platforms supporting regulated or public-sector environments
