Accounting Technician (Finance)
Shelby County Crime Victims & Rape Crisis Center is seeking an Accounting Technician to support their financial services. The role involves processing various financial documents, maintaining databases, and ensuring compliance with county policies.
Civic & Social Organization
Responsibilities
Prepares and maintains documents and forms and checks records for accuracy, completeness, timeliness and compliance with County policies and procedures
Tracks accounting data and operating expenditures and reconciles to records on a scheduled basis
Creates, performs data entry and maintains specialized computer databases and spreadsheets to obtain, verify and update information such as access database reports, excel spreadsheets, accounts payable and/or receivable information and disbursements, journal entries, purchase orders, vendor information and other
Prepares, send/receives invoices and other accounts payable/receivable documents for payment, enters data into excel spreadsheets and/or other programs; produces reports and other documents related to accounting as needed
Reviews request for travel authorizations and travel expense reports for proper approvals, compliance with the Travel Policy, and proper documentation, and processes travel advances and reimbursements as appropriate
Answers questions from County travelers and supervisors about travel rules
Performs other related duties as required or directed
Qualification
Required
Three (3) years of experience in appropriate clerical, bookkeeping, data processing or statistical work; AND
High school diploma or possess a GED; OR
Two (2) years of experience in appropriate clerical, bookkeeping, data processing or statistical work; and one (1) year of college study (30 semester hours or 36 quarters) from an accredited college or university
PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED
Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, equipment and machines
Knowledge of business English and math; a familiarity with basic accounting and bookkeeping techniques
Ability to analyze and solve problems
Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, verbally, and in writing
