BIM DESIGNER
The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is dedicated to enriching the environment and protecting public health for New Yorkers. They are seeking a BIM Designer to work in their Engineering Services division, responsible for preparing engineering models and documents for capital projects related to water supply and wastewater facilities.

Responsibilities
Assist in the delivery of capital projects through the design phase by preparing engineering models and documents for large projects for water and wastewater pumping stations and treatment facilities
Prepare engineering drawings for water supply facilities, water tunnels, wastewater pumping stations, treatment systems and other miscellaneous facilities using Revit, AutoCAD, Civil3D, and other BIM/CAD related software
Perform field investigations and utilize 3D laser scanning for capturing existing conditions
Prepare engineering or architectural designs for review by the professional engineers or architects and may oversee staff engaged in correlative activities
Prepare 2D and/or 3D building information models with related software from data, with or without sketches, reviews and interprets drawings and specifications, performs field inspections, and makes calculations
Prepare reports, memos, and correspondence, maintains office records of drawings, plans, maps, surveys and inspection data, extracts data from various sources, e.g., manuals, standard reference guides, field notes, reports, etc
Read and interpret complex models and drawings, comparing them with BIM/CAD standards, and making corrections, as required
Perform or assist with BIM/CAD templates setup, project technology planning, assist with the generation of BIM/CAD standards and implementation plans, and other technology related plans, protocols or workflows
Maintain BIM quality and fidelity, adherence to BIM plans, and adhering to modeling and information standards
Implement effective information protocols and workflows between internal project teams and external consultants
Coordinate with firm wide design technology section to develop, document, and communicate best practices for BIM standards, templates, and content
Perform clash detection, develop 4D/5D models, construction sequencing analysis, and work with 3D laser scanners, virtual/augmented reality devices, and other related technologies in conjunction with related software packages
Qualification
Required
Permanent Civil Service status as an Engineering Technician
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a state's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and two years of full-time satisfactory experience as an engineering technician; or
An Associate degree from an accredited college or technical institution with a specialization in engineering technology; or
A combination of education and experience which is equivalent to two years of satisfactory experience
At least one year of satisfactory service as an Engineering Technician with the City of New York; or
A Baccalaureate degree in engineering technology from an accredited college; or
At least two additional years of full-time satisfactory experience performing engineering technician work; or
A satisfactory combination of education and experience equivalent to the above
Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York (for certain positions)
Familiarity with advanced architecture, engineering, and construction industry practices
Familiarity with MEP 3D coordination processes
Preferred
Be proactive, possess excellent communication skills, and maintain a professional attitude
Proficient in Autodesk Revit (Architecture, Structure and MEP) and AutoCAD software
Knowledge of Autodesk Civil3D, Navisworks, Infraworks, Recap, and BIM360 are pluses
Proficient in reviewing and interpreting engineering drawings, models, and specifications
Ability to work quickly and efficiently and be willing to learn
Reliability and ability to take direction well and work with limited supervision
