Development Review Coordinator

Responsibilities
Provides coordination and support for all Development Review Committee (DRC) functions
Acts as a primary point of contact between city departments, developers, consultants, and the public, providing technical guidance and ensuring clear communication throughout project review stages
Prepares public hearing notices, reviews staff reports for accuracy and completeness, and edits comment documents to ensure clarity and consistency
Functions in a liaison capacity, including considerable public and official contact work requiring extensive knowledge of site and subdivision development policies and procedures
Manages complex filing systems to ensure accurate and organized records of all departmental projects, and assists in the coordination and oversight of departmental budgetary activities

Receives, reviews and distributes site plans, special exception request, variance applications, and other development-related documents to the appropriate staff for evaluation
Schedules meetings, prepares agendas, collects and provides support materials, coordinates staff reports and prepares consolidation of reports for use by the staff, consultants and other interested parties
Responsible for taking minutes of the DRC meetings, prepares and distributes minutes to staff, elected officials and other interested parties on an as needs basis
Ensures appeals and public hearing requests are handled in a timely manner
Regularly interacts with elected officials, city staff, consultants, and members of the public, on projects in the development process
Interprets City policies, procedures and requirements in response to requests for assistance or queries from developers and the general public
Types correspondence, reports, manuals and other materials using word processing software on a personal computer or mainframe terminal; composes routine correspondence
Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate assignment to the position
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Five (5) or more years of progressively responsible technical and administrative assistant experience in a community development function
Up to four (4) years of college level training with course work in public administration, urban planning or a related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis
Considerable knowledge of the City's Land Development Code (LDC) and the application of the code to the development review process
Considerable knowledge of business English, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and diction
Knowledge of governmental organization and administration, including the technical aspects of City planning and land development activities to include statutory advertising deadlines
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing
Ability to maintain confidentiality when processing documents of a sensitive nature
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with public officials, department members, and the general public
