Manufacturing Engineer

Kelly Engineering is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for a direct-hire opportunity with a long-established precision manufacturer in the St. Louis area. The Manufacturing Engineer plays a critical role in developing, optimizing, and supporting production processes across machining operations, aiming to improve manufacturability, enhance quality, and increase efficiency.

Responsibilities

Review customer drawings, models, and specifications to develop Bills of Materials, outside-processing requirements, and efficient manufacturing workflows
Create and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and tooling/fixture plans; ensure ERP data is accurate and up to date
Lead root-cause investigations to address production issues and drive scrap reduction, downtime reduction, and overall process improvements
Support CNC machining optimization, tooling design, and new product introduction activities
Collaborate with programming, quality, and production teams to ensure compliance with customer requirements and industry standards
Champion lean manufacturing initiatives, including 5S, setup reduction, and continuous improvement projects

Required

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience
3+ years in manufacturing engineering, preferably within aerospace, defense, or precision machining environments
Strong understanding of CNC machining processes, GD&T, and process documentation
Experience with lean methodologies, root-cause analysis, and ERP/MRP systems
Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced production environment
