Responsibilities
Perform BWR equipment design, BWR internal components design, and plant servicing equipment design
Provide fabrication and installation support for mechanical components and systems
Support mechanical component testing and validation activities
Demonstrate accountability for cost, schedule, quality, and technical accuracy of assigned tasks
Provide technical guidance and leadership, support project scheduling and resource planning, develop talent through mentorship, and act as the point-of-contact between engineering teams and internal and external customers
Take personal responsibility for design decisions, understanding associated risks and impacts
Consider customer needs and maintain open communication with interfacing engineers and project stakeholders
Operate effectively in a matrixed engineering team to ensure deliverables meet customer requirements, business procedures, and regulatory guidelines
Lead analysis, design, test, and integration activities to support programs and product requirements
Perform fundamental engineering hand calculations and modeling
Prepare and present design reviews and technical reports to internal and external customers
Lead and facilitate technical discussions to promote open dialogue and effective collaboration
Ensure product designs meet intended application and design requirements through cross-functional collaboration
Work closely with sourcing and fabrication teams to provide technical support
Prepare invention disclosures to protect proprietary technology and competitive advantages
Qualification
Required
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering discipline
Minimum of 8 years of experience in the energy industry, with nuclear experience preferred
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a program or technical leadership role
Minimum of 2 years of experience working with customers, regulators, and suppliers
Eligibility to access information subject to U.S. Export Control Laws in accordance with applicable regulations
Extensive experience in mechanical component and equipment design within complex technical environments
Proven experience supporting technical reviews, procurement, and fabrication activities
Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor 3D CAD design
Proficiency with ANSYS Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
Working knowledge of ASME and AWS codes and standards
Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
Familiarity with fabrication processes including machining, welding, and EDM
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, interpersonal, and leadership skills
Preferred
Prior nuclear industry experience supporting BWR, PWR, or other complex reactor or mechanical systems
Experience with Sodium Fast Reactor technology
Experience with Control Rod Drives or Fine Motion Control Rod Drives
Experience with nuclear core and fuel design
Experience with lifting and rigging equipment selection, load path definition, and safety factor determination
Familiarity with Lean principles and practices
